The Cumulus New European Bauhaus initiative (C+NEB) launched in August 2021 with an initial global conversation open to all members and Cumulus partners and friends to start shaping the official partnership with The New European Bauhaus Initiative.

Vision

By bringing together diverse stakeholders from the creative sectors across Europe and beyond, C+NEB aims to collect emerging insights informed by the expertise and pluralism of cultural understandings of Cumulus members and the specificity that arises from a connection to distinct lived experiences in different places and regions.

Two overarching foci for the C+NEB respond to the global higher education make-up of our association:

  1. To create a space to solicit perspectives generative of future forms of education (interdisciplinary, transnational, etc.) and approaches to learning (formal, informal, lifelong) in the global context, and
  2. To forefront new notions of (bio) regions allowing new perspectives on how we look at cultural and environmental phenomena and explore their potentials for Sustainability.

How will we do this?

In the coming months, this work will take the form of physical and virtual encounters and discussions, global conversations, and discreet project collaborations.

The C+NEB initiative aims to collaborate closely with the DESIS network, a close Cumulus partner, and engage the global network of DESIS Labs and their deep research and project expertise in sustainability and social innovation.

Coordinated by a curatorial team with the stewardship of Cumulus Vice President Philipp Heidkamp and composed of Cumulus members that will meet monthly, an important goal of C+NEB is to be an open platform that can be further defined by Cumulus members’ participation as the initiative evolves. We thus foresee putting out ongoing calls and invitations for members’ suggestions on themes and directions our activities might take.
